J.D. Long-Garcia is a senior editor at America Media, a national news platform run by the Jesuits. Previously he worked for diocesan publications in Phoenix and Los Angeles.

At America, J.D. heads up the publication’s efforts to report on Latinos in the Catholic Church, with special attention to immigration, criminal justice and Catholic education.

He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and grew up in a bilingual and bi-cultural household.

He studied journalism and psychology at Arizona State University, theology at the Graduate Theological Union and philosophy at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.
