Bio
Jonathan was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but lived for 18 years in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. His parents immigrated to this country, and Jonathan finished High School in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Arizona, then studied Political science at Arizona State University, and lastly went to study Law at Arizona Summit Law School, where he graduated with honors.
Jonathan is a recent graduate of TLI and actively recruits others for the program. He and his brother run a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Hyatt International Ministries. They provide food, rent, and utility bills to senior citizens whose homecare coverage lapses and leaves them without sustenance for months at a time. He has joined his brother Herman in forming a group named Compassion Street in Tucson. They identified a need for the homeless population to be served after hours. Many organizations that help the homeless, but very few provide services after 5 pm. Compassion street is a team of 10 – 20 medical students and other volunteers, who canvass parks and streets at night providing dinner, blankets, and medical care.
Jonathan is politically involved; he ran for Justice of the Peace in 2014 and sits on various community organization boards. Recently they organized a toy drive for children detained at immigration centers and raised $18,000 in scholarships for Hispanic youth attempting to attend law school. Jonathan’s mission is to bring more people to the table where decisions are made that affect the community. He also wants to help attract younger people to follow Christ, and he believes the best way is by giving good testimony through our actions and how we lead our everyday lives.
