Bio

Sister Mary Jordan Hoover is a member of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation who is currently serving as the principal of Saint John Paul II Catholic High School in the Diocese of Phoenix.

The middle of five children, Sister Mary Jordan grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in a Catholic family. She earned her bachelor degree in History and Education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and taught history at a public school before answering God’s call to enter religious life. In 1991, she entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, also known as the Nashville Dominicans, and professed vows in 1993.

In 1998, Sister Mary Jordan earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northwestern Louisiana University and began serving in school administration. Sister Mary Jordan has had the honor of serving as a Catholic School Administrator in five dioceses: The Diocese of Richmond, Virginia, The Archdiocese of Denver, the Diocese of Nashville, The Diocese of Arlington, Virginia and the Diocese of Phoenix. In 2012, Sister Mary Jordan earned a Masters in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville.

In 2016, Sister Mary Jordan and two other members of her religious community moved to the Diocese of Phoenix to establish their community’s presence in the diocese and to lead St. John Paul II Catholic High School, which opened in 2018 in Avondale, Arizona.

She is about Evangelizing Through Catholic Education.
