Bio

Jim Tierney is a native of Chicago, IL and currently lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife Kendra and their 10 children. Kendra is a well-known Catholic author and blogger, and her third book is scheduled to be published by Ignatius Press in the Fall of 2020.

After being born and raised in Chicago, Jim attended Harvard University on a US Marine Corps ROTC scholarship. Upon graduation from Harvard, Jim served around the United States and the world as a Marine Corps Artillery Officer, leading teams ranging in size from 5 to 500 Marines.

Jim and his wife Kendra met when he was stationed in her hometown of San Diego and were married shortly before he left active duty to attend Stanford Business School, where he earned an MBA. After Stanford, Jim raised a private investment fund with a classmate and used it to buy a manufacturing company in the Los Angeles area. After selling that company, Jim moved to the healthcare industry, running the Southwestern US home dialysis business line for the Fortune 500 dialysis provider DaVita. For the last three years, Jim has served as the Chief Operating Officer for Exer Urgent Care, which has 16 locations in greater Los Angeles.

Jim is co-founder of and frequent contributor to the popular podcast The Dad Project, which focuses on helping dads build virtues and will improve their family life. He is also a 13-year stage-4 metastatic cancer survivor, and blogs on deepening one’s spiritual life and living with joy despite facing serious illness. Jim and his wife are frequent speakers on numerous topics relating to marriage, parenting, family life, and living an authentic Catholic life at work and at home.
