José de Jesús Legaspi is President and CEO of The Legaspi Company. Since 1977, Legaspi’s market niche has been the inner city, specifically areas with high densities of Hispanic consumers. Legaspi has developed an expertise in the successful marketing and revitalization of urban and downtown areas. His work entails full understanding of socio-economic trends, demographics, and psychographics of Hispanic families.
José de Jesús Legaspi is considered an expert in the Hispanic market and is involved in many creative projects throughout the United States. These include malls, mercados, and mixed-use projects involving housing, retail, and educational components in Southern, Central and Northern California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma and Georgia. Legaspi’s co-owned and one-of-a-kind regional shopping mall, La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, is the keystone to all the knowledge and experience Legaspi has gained throughout his professional career. This 1.1 million square foot mall encompasses the confirmation of concepts that have worked in the provision of goods and services. The success of his work has been in providing the Hispanic family a second home. Events which are provided in the malls include Sunday concerts with mariachi music, religious events such as the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and celebrations such as Posadas and Tres Reyes Magos day.
Legaspi has been featured in major media outlets including the WSJ, Fast Company, which named his company #34 of The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in 2014, Time Magazine, CBS Sunday Morning news, Bloomberg TV and countless other media outlets. Mr. Legaspi has served as Vice President of the LADWP Board of Commissioners, a former Board of Directors of LACMTA, a member of the Board of Regents for his alma mater, Loyola Marymount University, and a member (former President) of the LMU Latino Alumni Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as well as President of CALL – Los Angeles Chapter.
Mr. Legaspi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles, did graduate studies at California State University of Los Angeles, and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of California.
